Learning a Foreign Language
I’ve chosen to write on the significance of learning foreign languages. Being born and bred in Pakistan has given me a prearranged platform for Urdu to be my mother tongue. Fortunately in Pakistan we’ve English as a compulsory language from elementary school to higher education hence making it easy for us to learn two languages together. Usually educated people in Pakistan are capable of communicating well in English both as written and spoken. More overly English is universally spoken and is considered to be a bridge between most of the nationalities. It won’t be incorrect if we say that English has become a worldwide lingo over the past several decades. But learning English doesn’t eradicate the prerequisite of accepting other foreign languages. To stay monolingual is like restraining your literary growth. Also it confines your communication and wisdom by making you deny yourself the skill to fully realize and endorse the world in which we live. Learning a foreign language like Danish Language unlocks new opportunities and gives you versatility of behavior that you might never have experienced otherwise. Learning foreign languages improves your personality, professionalism and has an impact on ones socioeconomic placement. On a lighter note Urdu being a solitary language and not used globally is also a perfect blend of many languages spoken in sub-continent. Nowadays Urdu has many words of English used as original. Knowledge of another tongue gives the learner a bright chance to sweep inside the cultures belonging to that very language and the context of that personality with relation to the background of that nation. Presently I’ve observed that students who want to study abroad in countries like Denmark, Russia or Sweden are asked to learn their language at a basic level before joining their studies in these particular countries. It enables a person to involve in exchanging goods and services in these countries freely and confidently as language barrier is a big hurdle in the way or prospering in such places. Students can have a valid advantage by understanding political insights and correlating them with their own country’s political stands. It thus helps them to communicate the international situations and foreign news for a better survival in the global community. Every nation requires such individuals. Another significant point is that organizations that plan to spread their business internationally have an ominous need for multilingual employees. For better competency globally, employers need people who can communicate in multiple languages without any hesitation. Their customers feel more comfortable and find them trustworthy to have business with. As a true matter of fact it’s very apparent that learning other languages gives us a deep insight of other nations, their cultures and their economies. It can never hurt ones employability but gives them bright chances to understand their native language in a better way and also to penetrate in the corporate sector strongly.
